Abstract Portraits
“Tell Me Everything Will Be Okay” and “Sea of Thought” respectively are the first two pieces in a new series of work I’ve started creating as a form of art therapy when I’m feeling overwhelmed or frustrated.
The red piece “Tell Me Everything Will Be Okay” was created about a month before I moved from Florida, USA to Munich, Germany and visually represents the incredible amount of chaos I was dealing with at the time as I said goodbye to the only home I had ever known and prepared to move to a place across the world that I had never been before.
The blue piece, “Sea of Thought” was created after finally getting my art supplies back from the sea freight and becoming overwhelmed by all of the ideas for art I wanted to make once I was in my new studio. It was the first time I was able to create outside of a sketchbook in 5 months, and I was exploding with inspiration by that point.
The process of making these pieces is incredibly soothing and puts me into the present moment fully leaving behind all of my worries about the past or future. I don’t know where this series will go in the future or what other emotions it will capture, but I am excited to keep creating these and see where they take me.
