Shell Art Drop
As I travel around the world, I leave behind hand-painted shells to spread a little bit of art, joy, and inspiration wherever I go. On the back, I ask the person who finds it to rehide it in a new place, snap a photo of it, and share it with me on Facebook or Instagram. This way I can tell my audience where shells are in case they are nearby to find them! The average shell travels to at least 2 continents with some shells traveling to 3 or 4 continents before someone eventually claims it for themselves or it rejoins the natural world.
The shells were originally found on the beaches of Florida, USA and then I paint them with acrylic paint and seal them with varnish to help protect them from the elements. The shells pictured are just a sample of a much larger collection of them out and about in the world today.
By far though, the most rewarding part about this project is the glowing messages I receive from the people who find them. I was recently messaged by someone who found one in Paris and was so elated that they could read and understand the english written on it that they decided to keep it. Another memorable message was from a young British girl who said that finding the shell in Mexico was the highlight of her vacation so she brought it back to England to place in her garden.
Thank you so much to everyone who has participated in this project! I hope to continue it for many years to come and spread as much love as I possibly can.
